Happy New Year! New Year's Eve ever since I can remember has been one monumental disappointment after another, but last night Larissa and I broke the pattern. We hit three parties, but spent most of our time at a scenester party just off Commercial Drive. People in bands, and their friends. People were deejaying and people were dancing, and a band, Le Petit Mort, played, and there was a room with porn showing on two different TVs, and zillions of people hanging out outside (my stiletto heels kept sinking into the mud, but I looked hot and 80's). I drank half a glass of champagne. It hurt my stomach. Larissa took 229 pictures with her digital camera. When she uploads them I'll put some up on my page. There were tons of hot scenester boys there, which is always a good thing, but many of the people were quite standoffish. We ran into enough people to talk to for it to stay interesting, though.

We also visited a party two blocks away that Larissa's friends Veda and Justin were at. It was a bit older crowd (in their 30s), but the people were really friendly and danced enthusiastically. We walked home (my feet hurt a lot) and stopped by a huge crazy punk party at a house just a few blocks from mine. It spanned three houses, and Witness Protection Program played. We got there around 2am and there were still more than a hundred drunk punk kids hanging out. We went into the house, explored and took pictures, and then went home. The people there were friendly too. A bit younger - the Seylynn Hall crowd. I heard that at midnight everyone went out into the street, and stopped a bus and got on with their beer, ("dude, the party's on the bus!"), and sat on the bike rack and caused general havoc. Funny.

This morning Larissa, Tynan, and Larissa's two very nice friends John Rae and Kim had breakfast at Zesty Restaurant. I had eggs benedict with grilled vegetables instead of ham (almost as good as eggs florentine, but not quite - eggs florentine is the best thing I've ever eaten, ever). The service was slow as hell, and they forgot about my order so I got it for free, but the decor was fun to make fun of, and we had a good time chatting.

This afternoon and this evening I worked. Yay time and half, on an 8-hour shift. It wasn't very busy either.

I got my hair cut yesterday. It's kind of hard to describe, but I'll put up a picture soon. Probably several. It's asymmetrical and punk rock; we'll leave it at that for now.

I've been downloading TONS of music on my new computer. Hooray for Kazaa!
