Today, after school, I biked from my house to a place on Cambie called Sha Lin Noodle House. (Sha Lin means "little forest.") Aeron had told me about it on Friday. The noodles are handmade. I ordered Dragging Noodles in Soup with Vegetables and Tofu. In Chinese it's something like "Tofu Vegetable Hand Pull Noodle Soup" - I love Chinese for its terseness. I sat sipping tea, attempted to read Ovid but decided to eavesdrop on the various conversations happening around me in Mandarin instead. Finally my food was set in front of me - a lovely huge steaming bowl of irregularly shaped noodles (that's how you know they're handmade) topped with bok choi or one of its relatives, and slices of carrot and tofu. I said xiexie ("thank you") to the waitress who replied with a mildly surprised bu keqi ("you're welcome"). And holy shit, it was the most delicious bowl of noodles I've ever eaten. My total came to $5.30, and there's no way I could've finished the entire bowl, although I came close, forcing noodles and tofu into myself because I didn't want them to think I didn't like it. I am definitely going back. The tea was yummy, too. I've been into green tea lately - I drink it almost every day.

I'd called the therapy place earlier in the day, but I decided to stop by on my way home anyway, since it was on the way, and I got to meet with someone right away, which was good. We set up a plan of things for me to do, and I'm going to see her again next week. So I guess things are looking up.

The new Simpsons Hallowe'en episode was on last night, and it was damn funny. There was Homer cloning himself, a nice little commentary on gun control, and their own version of The Island of Dr. Moreau. I think the Simpsons becomes more weird, intellectual and esoteric all the time. It's great. They can't consistently be hilarious anymore, but they're still capable of coming up with a few gems. There was also a rerun of an episode I hadn't seen with Stan Lee guest starring. So I laughed almost nonstop for an hour last night. Good stuff. There were a few good lines. The best ones I remember are when the town gets rid of all their guns, and some cowboys (and Kaiser Wilhelm) come back from the dead, and Billy the Kid says, "Well, I guess the only guns left in this town are in my cold, dead hands." And on the Island of Dr. Hibbert, you see everyone in Springfield has been turned into animals, and Ralph, who has been turned into a peacock and has his feathers arrayed, says "I'm a dog." There are many others, but I have to explain context way too much. You just need to watch the episodes.

The cat is cutting my arms up to shit. He needs some toys.

I guess that's all. I've been sleeping lots, and not bathing much, and not really going anywhere except on my bike. Such is depression. I vow to go and do laundry tonight. After I watch the Simpsons on CBC.
